we discover at the beginning that morgan edge is still alive but has a different face. the actor who played him originally must have realized that it was career-suicide to invest himself in more episodes of smallville.
lex confronts the new edge, wanting more information about his grandparents' death and lionel's possible part in it. since i watched this a while ago, i'm going to say, for brevity, that he did have a part in it. what else did you expect?
later on, lex gets attacked at his house (which always seems so easy to break into) by some S.W.A.T. member, only to find out that it didn't really happen -- or did it? lex brings clark to the place where he saw morgan edge, the person he thinks is behind the attack, but the abandoned warehouse he met him in has suddenly become a chinese sweatshop of sorts. feeling a little bit crazy, lex takes refuge at clark's place because he's the only one he trusts and goes even more crazy when he starts singing to clark's flannel shirt rolled up like a baby in his arms. (i knew they loved plaid flannel in smallville, but man...) clark's parents think that lex is off his rocker and that it would be best to get him some psychiatric help.
clark goes to lana for help and this ends in probably the best scene i have ever witnessed in smallville yet. left alone with lana, lex goes berserk and suspects lana of conspiring against him. and so, he charges at her and she goes through the wooden wall separating her and lex from a bucking bronco. the horse sees lana like the nasty trash she is (because animals just have that sixth sense) and starts stomping away at her. this results in the use of the fakest looking dummy i have ever seen.
so, after that funny scene with lana, we see clark talking to lex's bodyguard who was supposed to be dead and, after some coaxing of the violent kind, he confesses to clark that he was part of plan to keep lex crazy using chemicals in his scotch (another downside to frequent alcohol binging). so lex isn't crazy, but he still sings to his dead baby brother, which we find out has been happening even earlier than this episode through our favourite annoying reporter, chloe sullivan. obviously, lex is suffering from longstanding familial issues.
some stuff goes down at morgan edge's new pad, which i am reluctant to type out because it was just so cliché ·ith the guns and the cars and the whole action-adventure hoopla. the main thing that happens is that edge hits clark with a car, completely totalling the car and leaving clark miraculously intact. however, when the police get there, clark has fled the scene and lex just looks like a raving lunatic.
back in smallville, lana is in the hospital again (it's becoming her favourite home away from home) like the damsel-in-distress she is. she tells clark that she's finally realizing why he's been telling her to stay away from him: being around him is dangerous. no shit, lana. you've been getting your ass kicked for three seasons and you're only figuring this out now?
lex is commited to an asylum by lionel who admits he loves his son but, because lex was trying to reveal the skeletons in the family closet, needed to keep his son's nose out of his life. the show ends with some inappropriately timed johnny cash song.
LESSON OF THE WEEK / getting trampled on by a horse isn't something to laugh about, except when lana is the one getting trampled. in that case, grab a bucket of popcorn and enjoy!
i would like to say this first off: dullsville is my #1 source of entertainment on the internet!!! lol
i thought he was singing to a blanket...
my sister's friend entered into this meet kristin kreuk contest thing... and she got 2nd place, so she was suppose to get a cell phone... she ended up getting one, but it was used and scratched up... how cheap is that?

haha, it was probably kristin kreuk's used cell phone. that bitch. ;D
hmm, he might have been singing to a blanket (a flannel one!), but i saw this episode a while back, so i'm not in any state to remember or watch it again.

I liked this episode mainly because Lex was the principal character in it! And also because Lana got the crap kicked out of her by a horse. Heh!
